Designed for hosts by hosts, this single focus experience aimed to solve the most important request “help me understand what I need to do today.”
The result was a simple, functional but friendly tool that allowed hosts to see incoming requests, current bookings and status. It enabled hosts to act quickly and efficiently which significantly increased guests satisfaction and Hosts review scores. In addition we added a new flow to support the transition from new host onboarding to becoming a live host. The Today Tab was marked as one of the company's biggest stories in 2021 and announced in the company's first ever public keynote.
Airbnb Hosts lacked a centralized home to manage and take action on the needs of their listings. One of the most common requests from our host community was clear: “Help me understand what I need to do today.” In response, we developed the Today Tab — a focused, streamlined experience designed with and for hosts to support their daily operations.
As Sr. Design Manager and DRI for Host Tools, I led a team of incredibly talented designers from concept through to Airbnb’s first-ever major public release. I drove the work as a player-coach — overseeing the strategic vision and design operations, while also diving in hands-on to support where needed. In partnership with cross-functional leads, we established a review and refinement process that kept stakeholders aligned and maintained project momentum.

Better Onboarding: We introduced a new flow to guide Hosts from onboarding to going live, smoothing a critical transition in the hosting journey
Increased Response Rate: The Today Tab provided a clear, actionable view of incoming requests, current bookings, and reservation statuses. It enabled Hosts to respond faster and manage more efficiently, resulting in meaningful improvements in guest satisfaction and Host review scores.
Host Coaching: We surfaced support tailored to each Host’s needs and stage in their journey, through articles, videos, and Ask a SuperHost — a feature that connects Hosts with others in their area for peer-to-peer guidance.
